Kashmir is referred to as the land of sufi saints,has always been famous for its rich culture and heritage,and calligraphy is one such art.
Hashim Javaid dar, a 17 years old calligrapher has been passionate of art like calligraphy since childhood and has been doing it since childhood.
Born in south Kashmir’s Qaimoh Kulgam, Hashim is a student of class 12 studying in Govt. Higher Secondary school qaimoh. He is a medical student and is preparing for NEET
“Islamic calligraphy is time-consuming which is why it is different and needs a proper focus as well. It costs a lot of energy and is stationary. But I still love to do it. My parents, friends and siblings encourage me and it gives me more strength to further, pursue it” said Dar,
He is having immense love for the islamic culture as he loves to write the verses of Quran as it gives him the peace of mind .calligraphy makes him to get himself out from all kinds of depression and frustration.
He has learned calligraphy by himself and right from childhood He has been good at painting and calligraphy . He has participated in many kinds of art exhibitions and district level competitions
Calligraphy is a art which everyone can’t do and is alhamdulillah blessed with it “said Dar”
While talking Dar, said “ My advise for amateurs of any art not to be afraid of making mistakes. But once you are at something for a considerable amount of time makes sure you acquire perfection in it. “To the calligrapher learners, I must restate that Islamic Calligraphy is an art of the perfection. There is very little margin for average work in it. People pay for perfection and perfection is what calligraphy teaches us. Besides this calligraphy demands an immense patience. If you are not patient enough calligraphy is not for you”.
