Heatwave Sweeps Jammu and Kashmir as Temperatures Soar

SRINAGAR – The region of Jammu and Kashmir is currently in the grip of a scorching heatwave, with the Meteorological Department predicting a further surge in temperatures across most areas.

According to a report from the Press Trust of Kashmir, meteorological officials have stated that Srinagar recorded a temperature of 31.1 degrees Celsius, while in Jammu, temperatures over the plains are expected to range between 38 to 40 degrees Celsius.

A recent media report indicates that nearly 100 people have tragically lost their lives due to the extreme heatwave that swept across India’s northeast over the weekend.

The next four days are anticipated to bring hot and dry weather throughout Jammu and Kashmir.

Furthermore, between June 24 and 26, there is a likelihood of light to moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning in scattered to fairly widespread locations, accounting for approximately 60% of the region (PTK).
