A minor girl was raped by her brother-in-law in Srinagar district of central Kashmir after which Jammu Kashmir Police has arrested the 21-year-old accused.
An official told The Kashmiriyat that the incident was reported three days ago from Barzulla after the family of a twelve year old girl complained to the Police that the teenager was raped by Zaid Feroz of old Barzulla in Srinagar.
“One Accused namely Zaid Feroz of old barzulla, Srinagar aged 22 years arrested for raping a 12-year-old child (name withheld). The accused is close relative of victim girl child,” Srinagar Police had said on July 5, 2023.
During the course of investigation, Police said, it has come to the fore that the accused was the step brother of the minor girl, who has been taken to medical and phsyical counselling now.
Police has said that they have also launched a comapign to tackle the menace of online harassment. “If anyone is being harassed online, they should take a screenshot and send the same to us, We will intitiate suitable action against them,” Police said.
The incident came one day after a man was arrested in Srinagar for raping his step daughter. (The Kashmiriyat)
