Parents Allowing Minors to Drive to Face Penalties: ARTO Bandipora

Bandipora: In a significant move, the Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO) of Bandipora, has announced that parents who permit their underage children to drive cars and motorbikes will now be subject to penalties and potential imprisonment under the revised Motor Vehicles Act.

ARTO, Bandipora, Bilal Ahmad Mir told Kashmir Convener that While the practice of counselling minors and their parents was previously employed, Mir revealed that stricter measures are now being implemented to enforce the law.

“If a minor is caught driving a vehicle, their parents will be required to pay fines and could face imprisonment, as mandated by the amended MV Act,” he said.

“This development aims to enhance road safety and ensure the responsible operation of vehicles within the district,” he said.
