The son of Maulana Tariq Jameel, Asim Jameel, was shot dead in the Tulamba town of Mian Channu, Khanewal district in Punjab on Sunday, the police said.
They added that further investigation was under way. The body was moved to Tulamba Hospital.
“My son Asim Jameel passed away today in Talamba,” the religious scholar said in a post on X, erstwhile Twitter. He described it as an “accidental death”.
“We request you all to remember us in your prayers on this sad occasion. May Allah grant my son a high place in Jannat al-Firdous,” he said.
