Srinagar, April 13: Amidst swirling speculations about Gujjar leader Mian Altaf’s health, National Conference (NC) vice president Omar Abdullah reaffirmed that Altaf remains the party’s candidate for the Anantnag Rajouri Parliamentary constituency.
Addressing reporters in Srinagar, Abdullah clarified, “We have not heard about it. If he had taken such a decision, then he would have informed us. Now that you have raised it, we will find out about it.”
Asserting Altaf as the party’s primary choice for the seat, Abdullah emphasized, “Unless we hear from his mouth, he will be our party’s face.”
Abdullah urged caution regarding media reports, stating, “Media reports are not always true, sometimes they are wrong.”
He indicated that if Altaf decides not to contest due to health reasons, the party will convene consultations to decide its next steps.
