J&K Students Association Demands Action After Assault at Government Nursing College Akhnoor

The J&K Students Association (JKSA) has expressed profound concern over a violent incident at the Government Nursing College in Akhnoor on September 5. According to reports, the altercation began when college staff members allegedly assaulted students. The confrontation escalated when students, attempting to document the incident, had their phones forcibly confiscated by the staff.

Witnesses claim that after the staff’s initial aggression, local goons were permitted entry into the college premises. This led to further violence, impacting both male and female students. Some students reportedly sustained visible injuries during the attacks.

The JKSA has condemned the actions of the staff and the intruding goons, demanding an immediate and thorough investigation into the incident. The association calls for swift and decisive action from the authorities to hold those responsible accountable. They insist that the investigation should be high-level to ensure transparency and justice.

In their statement, the JKSA emphasized the need for protection and respect for students’ rights within educational institutions. They also highlighted the importance of safeguarding students against any form of violence and ensuring that such incidents do not recur.

The authorities have yet to respond to the JKSA’s demands, but the call for action underscores growing concerns over student safety and institutional accountability in the region.
