Sopore: A militant was killed as a fresh military operation against militants started in Rampora area of Sopore in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Saturday, officials confirmed.
The operation began when joint armed force teams, acting on specific intelligence about the presence of militants, launched a search operation.
As the search party neared the suspected location, militants opened fire, prompting retaliatory action from the forces.
The Kashmir Zone Police reported on social media platform X that the anti-militant operation was conducted by police and army and that the search efforts in the area are ongoing.
This marks the second military operation against militants in Sopore within a 24-hour period.
On Friday, armed forces killed two militants in nearby Sahipora.
