Ganderbal | 31st Dec: Cyber Cell Ganderbal has made remarkable progress in combating cybercrimes, accounting for ₹17 lakhs in financial fraud cases and recovering missing or stolen smartphones worth ₹16 lakhs within just nine months.
Since its establishment in March 2024, the Cyber Cell has recovered 87 mobile phones from various locations. Out of these, 74 devices were handed over to their rightful owners earlier, while 13 more were returned today during a special meeting. The total value of these recovered phones amounts to ₹16 lakhs.
In financial fraud cases, ₹17 lakh was accounted for, and ₹3,78,527 has already been credited back to the victims’ accounts, according to reports gathered by Valley Online News.
Additionally, the unit has resolved over 56 cases of blackmailing and social media account hacking, providing much-needed relief to the affected individuals.
During today’s meeting, victims expressed gratitude towards the Ganderbal Police for their relentless efforts. Speaking on the occasion, SSP Ganderbal reaffirmed the department’s commitment to addressing cybercrimes with sincerity and sensitivity.
The SSP also announced the launch of a 24×7 cyber helpline number (9541786772) for Ganderbal residents to report and seek assistance with cyber-related issues.

Victims present at the event commended the Cyber Cell’s swift action and expressed relief at recovering their lost assets. The public is encouraged to come forward with complaints and assured that all cases will be handled with the utmost care.
