Traffic on SSG Road Suspended from Jan 11 to Jan 13 Due to Weather and Maintenance

Ganderbal :The movement of vehicular traffic on the Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumri (SSG) road, from Kangan onwards, will remain suspended from January 11 to January 13, 2025, owing to inclement weather, icy road conditions, and ongoing maintenance work.

As per the order issued by Traffic Police Rural Kashmir a copy of which lies with Valley Online reads, have issued a strict advisory urging motorists, tourists, and commuters to avoid traveling on the road during this period. The suspension has been implemented to ensure public safety amid adverse conditions.

Traffic along the SSG road is expected to resume from January 14, 2025, subject to favorable weather and road conditions. Travelers have been advised to confirm the road status by contacting TPCR Kashmir before planning or starting their journey.

Local residents will be allowed movement in a limited and strategic manner, only after proper identification checks, to cater to essential needs and emergencies. Additionally, vehicles traveling from Ladakh towards Sonamarg or Srinagar will only be permitted after clearance from BEACON authorities”, reads the order, a copy of which lies with Valley Online.

This measure has been taken to avoid road mishaps and ensure the safety of commuters during the harsh winter period.
