Dr Mohammad Momin Khan from Jammu and Kashmir has been appointed as the National Vice President (External Affairs) of the All India Medical Students Association (AIMSA) for the 2026–2027 session, marking a significant step in his leadership journey within the organization.

The appointment was announced as part of the newly constituted national team of AIMSA–FMSW, according to a press release issued by the association.

Dr Khan previously served as the Vice President for Jammu and Kashmir within the organisation, where he was involved in initiatives related to student welfare, healthcare advocacy and strengthening the association’s activities at the regional level.

Officials associated with the association said his elevation to the national leadership reflects recognition of his work and contributions toward addressing issues faced by medical students and young doctors.

The All India Medical Students Association said it expects the new national team to continue advocating for the rights, opportunities and fair treatment of foreign medical graduates and medical students across India and abroad.

“We are confident that under your guidance and leadership, Foreign Medical Graduates across India and abroad will continue to benefit from your efforts and remain strongly represented in the pursuit of their rights, opportunities and fair treatment,” the association said in a statement while congratulating the newly appointed team.

Dr Khan, who hails from Jammu and Kashmir, has been actively engaged in raising issues related to medical education, student welfare and healthcare policy discussions.

Colleagues and members of the organisation said he has worked on several initiatives aimed at improving representation and addressing concerns faced by medical students and young doctors in the country.

Apart from his organizational responsibilities, Dr Khan has also been associated with social initiatives and public health awareness campaigns.

Through these activities, he has used various platforms to highlight healthcare challenges and advocate for improvements in the medical education system and public health infrastructure.

Observers within the association said his appointment to the national post is expected to strengthen AIMSA’s outreach and engagement with medical students across different regions of the country.

The newly formed national team of AIMSA–FMSW for the 2026–2027 session includes office bearers responsible for organisational coordination, academic engagement, legal affairs and outreach.

Officials said the leadership team will work toward strengthening the association’s representation of medical students and addressing concerns related to medical education and professional development.

The All India Medical Students Association operates as a platform representing medical students and foreign medical graduates, focusing on advocacy, academic collaboration and awareness initiatives related to healthcare and medical education. [KNT]
