Commissioner says GeM portal process to ensure transparency, wider participation, competitive bidding

Srinagar, Apr 29 (KNO): Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) Commissioner and Chief Executive Officer of Srinagar Smart City Limited (SSCL), Faz Lul Haseeb, on Wednesday said that the civic body will auction 28 shops and two halls at Parimpora on May 22 and 23 through an online process on the GeM portal.
Talking to reporters here, Haseeb as per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) said the auction notice has already been issued and shared through official platforms, including SMC’s social media handles, to ensure maximum outreach among interested bidders.
He said the auction will be conducted through the forward auction method and participants can bid online without the need to visit any office physically.
“The entire process will be online. Nobody needs to come personally. We want maximum participation so that there is healthy and competitive bidding,” he said.
The Commissioner said six shops are located on the ground floor, 11 on the first floor and 11 on the second floor, besides four halls in the commercial complex.
He said a facilitation cell has been set up in Rooms 207 and 208 of Block-C at the SMC office, where a five-member team will assist bidders and provide necessary guidance regarding the online process.
Haseeb said the aim of the auction is to enhance revenue generation for the corporation while ensuring equal opportunity for the public.
“We want competitive bidding in which SMC benefits in revenue and the public also gets equal opportunity to participate,” he said—(KNO)
