Srinagar: The Delhi’s Patiala House Court Saturday postponed hearing on Er. Rashid’s interim bail plea until July 1.
As learnt, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) sought from the Delhi’s Patiala House Court more time to tender its response. Conceding to the request, the Court postponed the case and listed it on July 1, 2024.
Pertinent to mention here that the Court has already deferred the final verdict on the plea on multiple occasions, with previous deferment coming on June 19, 2014.
Rasheed has moved the court seeking interim bail, or custody parole in the alternative, to take oath and perform his parliamentary functions.
Engineer Rasheed has been in jail since 2019 after he was charged by the NIA under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act in the alleged militant funding case. He is at present lodged in Tihar jail.
The former MLA’s name cropped up during the interrogation of Kashmiri businessman Zahoor Watali, who the NIA had arrested for allegedly funding militant groups and separatists in the Valley.
