Share:

The price of traditional ‘baking rotis,’ a staple food in the Kashmir Valley, has recently surged, prompting local residents to urge the government for intervention.

The All Jammu Kashmir Kashmiri Bread Makers and Local Bakers Union defended the price increase, stating it followed comprehensive discussions with relevant authorities.

Many residents across the valley have voiced their concerns regarding this hike, emphasizing that bread is an essential part of their daily diet.

The rising costs pose a significant challenge, particularly for low-income families. Zahoor Ahmad a Ganderbal resident, expressed that government action is necessary to prevent this situation from becoming a financial strain on households.

Similarly, Arif another local, highlighted the importance of baking rotis (tchot) as a fundamental food item in Kashmiri homes.

He warned that if prices continue to escalate, many families may struggle to afford this basic necessity on a regular basis.
