Share:

On January 7, a Block Diwas event was held at the Tehsil Office in Wakura, Ganderbal, where local residents came together to share their concerns and seek solutions. The event was led by Assistant Commissioner Revenue (ACR) Mohammad Altaf, along with officials like the Tehsildar and Block Development Officer (BDO).

Many people from Wakura and nearby areas attended and voiced a variety of issues. One of the main requests was for improvements to the infrastructure of the Primary Health Center (PHC) in Wakura, along with the establishment of a Jan Aushadhi center to provide affordable medicines. Residents also wanted Wakura to be recognized as a horticulture zone to boost local agriculture.

Other concerns included better irrigation canals, availability of seeds at the agriculture office, and the need for more staff, particularly a veterinary doctor, at the animal husbandry office. The community also called for upgrades to playfields, creation of job opportunities, and the establishment of a Skill Development Institute. They expressed a desire for a recreational park for children as well.

Additionally, residents requested the restoration of SRTC bus services to Lal Chowk, improvements in transportation, and repairs to the badly damaged Wakura-Dab road.

In response, ACR Mohammad Altaf instructed the attending officers to work together to ensure that all areas receive fair development. He emphasized the importance of addressing the residents’ genuine demands and asked for a detailed report on the pending issues to be submitted to higher authorities. The ACR assured everyone that the administration is committed to resolving these concerns quickly and encouraged the public to participate actively in future outreach programs.
