Owners Association (PHROA) held a Bird Walk cum interaction session on October 16, 2022 (Sunday) to promote Bird Tourism and to project Pahalgam as an all weather birding destination.
Along with the members of BoK and PHROA the event was joined by some locals also.
During the early morning Birdwalk , a good number of Bird species were sighted along with a rare mammal ( kashmir flying squirrel). After the conclusion of Birdwalk, the group assembled at Hotel Mount View and discussed about the birding potential of Pahalgam, preparations and challenges for the promotion of bird tourism in Pahalgam and to how to involve local youth in birding and their livelihood generation from it. Irfan Jeelani from Birds of Kashmir and Javaid Burza from PHROA and Dr. Sheikh Ghulam Rasool from SRDE put forth their ideas with regard to this issue.
Mr Jagjit Singh Ji who is the President of BOK and member of PHROA was nominated as the Chairman of the Coordination committee between BOK and PHROA so that the decisions taken today are implemented on ground taken to logical conclusion.
At last Sheikh Riyaz one of the core mamber of BOK from Srinagar put forward the idea of installing Bird Feeders outside Hotels in Pahalgam during winters.
