Srinagar :Mariya Younus, a mass communication student has marked a milestone in her career after winning ‘Gold Medal’ in Masters in Mass Communication by topping her batch at Islamic University of Science and Technology, Awantipora, with Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) 8.64.
Mariya received the Gold Medal at the hands of Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha in presence of Former ISRO (Indian Space Research Organisation) Chairman Prof. Krishnaswamy Kasturirangan, Vice Chancellor Prof Shakil Ahmed Romshoo and other high profile dignitaries.
Mariya, who basically hails from Anantnag Bijbehara, has received her schooling in her native village. After her schooling, Mariya moved to higher classes with Science as my primary subject.
“I even had part of schooling from Maharashtra and the rest in Kashmir”, says Mariya adding because of my education in Marashtra I got good sort of exposure.
“I have been a Science student till my graduation and later went for Masters in Journalism because of my interest”, says Mariya adding “I got more into researching about Journalism and during that time I decided to not continue in Science and instead land in Journalism”.
About a question, as what led her to go for Journalism, when she had been a brilliant science student, Mariya said that “I would always love to participate in debates, discussions and my teachers always used to tell me that I can be a good speaker and a good journalist and this thing motivated me to go with Journalism”, says Mariya.
“I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to my family, friends and mentors for their unwavering belief in me. This honor is not just mine but a testament to the collective efforts that have brought me here. I am excited for the next chapter and the opportunities that lie ahead”, says Mariya.
“Fortunately, I was also selected as an Anchor by the Directorate of Information and Public Relations (DIPR) for the innovative program ‘Inspire GenZ’ held earlier this year”, said Mariya.
