Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir BJP chief expelled senior leader Satish Bhargav for “hate speech” and “unparliamentary language” during an election meeting.
The meeting was held in Poonch district, part of the Anantnag-Rajouri parliamentary constituency where PDP’s Mehbooba Mufti and National Conference’s Mian Altaf are contesting.

BJP leader from Mendhar of District Poonch threatening muslims to face consequences if they will not support BJP backed candidate on Rajouri-Anantnag Parliamentary seat. Request @JmuKmrPolice @ManhasYougal to take strong action against this self styled leader. #LokasabhaElection
Bhargav’s expulsion was ordered on the recommendation of the party’s disciplinary committee chairman, who cited a video of Bhargav making threatening and unparliamentary remarks.
Is this why BJP wants to defer the Anantnag – Rajouri election so that its leaders can openly threaten violence against Paharis to force them to vote for Apni party or else they will create communal tensions reminiscent of the 1947 partition? @ECISVEEP should take note & ensure peaceful and timely elections. The attempted deferment should be viewed in the context of threatening.
Meanwhile, the PDP lodged a complaint alleging “intimidation tactics” by the BJP, accusing it of threatening Pahari Muslims to vote for the Apni Party candidate.
The PDP has forwarded a video of Bhargav’s speech and demanded an investigation into the matter
