Anantnag :The body of a Territorial Army soldier who went missing on Tuesday evening has been recovered in the Kokernag forest area of Anantnag district. The recovery was made this morning following a massive search operation conducted by the Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police.
The soldier, identified as Hilal Ahmad Bhat, a resident of Mukdhampora Nowgam in Anantnag, disappeared during a joint counter-terrorist operation in the Kazwan Forest. This operation was initiated based on intelligence inputs and continued overnight as authorities worked tirelessly to locate him.
Local reports confirm that the search efforts were extensive, involving both police and military personnel. The discovery of Bhat’s body has prompted an investigation into the circumstances surrounding his disappearance and eventual death.
Bhat leaves behind a five-year-old son,Azaan and Nine months daughter Wajiha , and a family that relied on him for support. Neighbors have expressed their sorrow, describing him as a good person who worked hard to provide for his family. “It’s heartbreaking news,” said Mohd Shafi Padder, a local resident. “He struggled to support his family, especially with both of his parents often being unwell.”
Junaid Ahmad, a childhood friend of Bhat, recalled their close bond. “We grew up together; we were classmates since childhood. It’s truly unfortunate that such a tragic event has happened. We are all in shock and mourning his loss.”
