Kangan, Dec 11: The Kangan Company of the Wussan Battalion, in collaboration with the Army Recruiting Office, Srinagar, organised an awareness lecture on the Agniveer recruitment process at Government Boys Higher Secondary School, Kangan, on Wednesday. The initiative aimed to educate aspiring candidates about the Agnipath Scheme and its opportunities for youth.

The session was led by Col. Anshul Sharma, Director Recruitment, and Maj. Vishal Sagar, Commander of Kangan Company. Approximately 170 students from different schools attended the event, eager to gain insights into the recruitment process.

Addressing the participants, Col. Anshul Sharma stated, “The Agnipath Scheme opens doors for the youth to serve the nation with pride. This initiative will empower young individuals to achieve their goals while contributing to the country’s defense.”

The lecture focused on the selection process, eligibility criteria, and various roles available under the scheme, such as General Duty, Technical, Tradesmen, and Clerk/Store Keeper positions. The officers encouraged students to prepare diligently to seize this opportunity.

Maj. Vishal Sagar highlighted the importance of the programme, saying, “We are committed to supporting local youth in their journey to become Agniveers. This initiative is not just a career option but a chance to serve the nation with honor.”

Earlier this year, the Kangan Company facilitated training sessions at its camp, where 50 students from the region participated. Among them, four successfully joined the Agniveer programme, becoming role models for others.

Speaking about the lecture, Aman, a student from Kangan, said, “The success stories of our seniors have motivated us. Today’s session has clarified many doubts and has inspired us to work harder towards our goal.”

The Army has announced that preparations for the 2025 Agniveer recruitment drive are underway, with a focus on candidates aged 17.5 to 21 years who meet the required physical fitness and educational standards.

The event concluded with a message of encouragement, urging the youth of Kangan and nearby areas to step forward and embrace the opportunity to serve the nation through the Agnipath Scheme.
