“Temporary Price Fix of Rs 7 per Roti Announced; Market Review Underway by FCS&CA”
In a bid to tackle public concerns over the sudden increase in bread prices, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Vijay Kumar Bidhuri, held a crucial meeting on Friday with representatives of the Nanwai Association. The meeting aimed to stabilize bread prices and address the grievances of the community.
Following detailed discussions, an interim agreement was reached to cap the price of a single Roti (42 grams) at Rs 7, while a set of three Rotis would cost Rs 20. This temporary pricing mechanism will remain in place until the Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA) department completes its assessment of market conditions and finalizes an official price structure.
The Divisional Commissioner also directed stakeholders to ensure the uninterrupted availability of Rotis across the region to meet public demand. The move is expected to provide immediate relief to residents and maintain market stability.
