Srinagar: A house help from Bihar was arrested in Srinagar for stealing gold jewellery after barging into a residential house in Umerabad, Srinagar on Wednesday night.
Police station Shaltang received a complaint from Aimen Akhzar, a resident of Umerabad, Srinagar, stating that during the intervening night of January 14 and 16, 2025, thieves barged into her residential house while her mother and father were outside the country for performing Umrah and stolen some jewellery items.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 04/2025 under relevant section of law was been registered. During the course of the investigation, some suspects were called for questioning and the role of one suspect namely Janatul Begum (working as the maid), wife of Mohd Chotu resident of Ward 7 Kusthan Madhepur Bihar, at present, HMT Srinagar, was ascertained in the commission of crime.
Upon her disclosure, the stolen jewellery was recovered. Citizens are urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the nearby police unit or Dial-112 without delay so that prompt action against the culprits will be taken.
