GANDERBAL, JANUARY 17: In a pivotal meeting convened by Deputy Commissioner Shyambir, the District Level Cooperative Development Committee (DCDC) met today to strategize on enhancing the economic viability of Primary Agriculture Credit Societies (PACS) in Ganderbal. The focus was on diversifying their business activities to better serve the community.
Key discussions revolved around previous directives issued by the committee, including the adoption of Model Bye laws by PACS, hardware procurement updates, and the establishment of new multipurpose PACS. The meeting also highlighted the formation of Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs), alongside potential alignments with the PM-KUSUM scheme, and the establishment of Jan Aushadhi Kendras.
Shyambir was presented with a comprehensive overview of initiatives led by the Ministry of Cooperation, particularly the registration of M-PACS, M-DCS, and M-FCS in underserved Gram Panchayats. The committee noted the successful establishment of 13 Common Service Centers (CSCs) and PMKSKs, marking significant progress in diversifying PACS’ operations.
The Deputy Commissioner urged committee members to collaborate closely to ensure the success of these initiatives, pledging full support from the District Administration to meet established goals. Additionally, the meeting unveiled a year-long calendar to commemorate the International Year of Cooperatives in 2025 and approved the establishment of two Food Processing Units.
In a proactive move, the DC instructed the Chief Medical Officer to identify locations for Jan Aushadhi Kendras in PHC Wakura and PHC Wussan, emphasizing the need for accessible healthcare resources. Furthermore, he called for the Cooperative Bank to organize workshops aimed at educating stakeholders about the bank’s services.
Highlighting the importance of outreach, the DC also stressed the necessity of awareness camps to maximize the benefits of PACS for eligible community members. The meeting saw participation from various officials, including the Additional Deputy Commissioner and the Deputy Registrar of Cooperative Societies, all committed to bolstering the cooperative landscape in Ganderbal.
