J&K Students Association Grieved Over Passing  Away of Veteran Journalist and Author Humra Quraishi

The Jammu and Kashmir Students Association on Friday expressed its heartfelt condolences on the untimely demise of veteran journalist, author, columnist, and thought leader Humra Quraishi, who passed away on Thursday at the age of 70. The Association stated that her passing is an irreparable loss to the fields of journalism and literature, where her voice resonated with truth, compassion, and unwavering commitment to justice.  
In its condolence statement, the National Convenor of the Association, Nasir Khuehami, said that Humra Quraishi was a fearless journalist and a prolific author whose writings often gave a voice to the marginalized and shed light on some of the most pressing issues of our times. 
Through her work, she highlighted the struggles and stories of the people of Jammu and Kashmir, bringing their aspirations, challenges, and realities to the forefront with sensitivity and integrity. She is famously known for her work “Kashmir: The Untold Story,” which narrated the complex narratives and challenges of the region. “Humra’s passing is a loss not only to her family but also to the world of journalism and social justice,” he said.
Her books and columns were a source of inspiration for many, as they courageously addressed topics often overlooked or ignored. She was a beacon of hope for young writers and journalists, a mentor who demonstrated the importance of authenticity, empathy, and courage in the pursuit of truth. Her words carried immense power, bringing light to stories that needed to be told with courage and grace, it said.
The Jammu and Kashmir Students Association stands in solidarity with her family, friends, and admirers during this difficult time. Her legacy as a truth-seeker and her contributions to journalism and literature will continue to inspire generations to come. In her death, the world has lost a generous human being. While expressing its sympathy with the bereaved family, the Association prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul and granted courage to the members of the bereaved family to bear this irreparable loss.
