SPO Among Two Arrested with Heroin in Jammu Kashmir

SRINAGAR: Police on Friday said they have arrested two drug peddlers, including a Special Police Officer (SPO), in the Miran Sahib area of Jammu district

The police stated that in an action against drug trafficking under Operation Sanjeevani, Jammu Police apprehended two drug peddlers, including an SPO posted at DPL Poonch, and recovered 12 grams of heroin-like substance (Chitta) during a late-night operation near Balol Bridge, Ring Road, Miran Sahib.

According to the spokesman, a police team from Police Station Miran Sahib intercepted a vehicle travelling from Samba towards Akhnoor. Upon noticing the police presence, the suspects attempted to flee but were swiftly apprehended.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Irfan Hussain (SPO posted at DPL Poonch), son of Matloob Hussain, resident of Galuta, Tehsil Mendhar, and Sajjad Hussain Shah, son of Sarfraz Hussain Shah, resident of Potha Surankot, District Poonch.

A thorough search of the vehicle led to the recovery of 12 grams of heroin-like substance. Following this, an FIR No. 11/2025 under sections 8/21/22/29/60 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Miran Sahib, and further investigation is underway, the statement added.

Jammu Police remains committed to eradicating the drug menace and urges citizens to support the fight against narcotics by reporting any suspicious activities. The identity of informants providing crucial leads in such cases will be kept confidential, the statement concluded. (GNS)
