Gulmarg, Jan 30: The All India Inter-University Winter Games 2024-25 were officially inaugurated today by Hon’ble Minister of Youth Services and Sports, Shri Satish Sharma. The ceremony was attended by distinguished guests including CUKashmir Vice-Chancellor Prof. A. Ravinder Nath, Vice Chancellor of the University of Kashmir Prof. Nilofer Khan, Vice Chancellor of the Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST) Prof. Shakil Ahmad Romshoo, and Dr. Baljit Singh Sekhon, Joint Secretary of the Association of Indian Universities.
With around 200 athletes and officials representing 27 Indian universities, the two-day event features exciting competitions in Skiing and Ice-stock. Organized by CUKashmir in collaboration with the Association of Indian Universities, this event aims to promote winter sports and foster camaraderie among young athletes.
In his address, Minister Sharma expressed his pride in being part of such a prestigious event, highlighting its significance in showcasing India’s winter sports culture. He encouraged participants to become ambassadors for Gulmarg and the wider Kashmir region, urging them to share their experiences and promote the area’s stunning beauty and warm hospitality to boost tourism.
