A youth who resident of Srinagar, has been arrested in connection with the stabbing of another student following an argument in Delhi’s New Friends Colony on Monday evening, Indian Express reported.
The arrested individual, identified as Tajamul Islam, was taken into custody at the scene, while his accomplice, Lukman, managed to flee.
Both are from Jammu Kashmir and study at a private university in Noida.
As per the report, the incident occurred when the victim, Zeshan, also from Jammu Kashmir, was standing with his friend, Safdar Rashid Rathar, at a parking lot on Sujan Mohinder Marg.
A verbal exchange with Tajamul and Lukman escalated into violence, leading to Zeshan being stabbed. He was immediately taken to the hospital and is now in stable condition.
Police recovered the weapon used in the attack and have launched a search operation to locate Lukman, who reportedly resides in East of Kailash.
A case has been registered under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including charges of voluntarily causing hurt and criminal intimidation.
Investigations are ongoing to determine the full circumstances of the incident.
