Ganderbal, Dec 23: A Solid waste Management shed constructed at cherwan village area of Kangan in Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district has turned into a dumping with locals urging authorities to act forthwith in the larger interests of residents.

Despite being set up by the government after spending a good amount, the shed as per locals of the area has remained defunct. Residents complained that the abandoned facility has become a heaven for stray dogs, posing a significant health and safety risk to the community.
“This shed was meant to process waste and improve sanitation, but it has become a nuisance instead,” a local resident lamented.
The shed has resulted in the severe hardships for the people in the area, as the accumulation of unsegregated waste has created environmental and public health concerns.
The residents have urged the concerned authorities to take immediate action to restore the functionality of the plant and address the growing issues caused by its neglect.
“We appeal to the administration to intervene and ensure the plant is repaired and made operational at the earliest,” another local said.
