Ganderbal, Mar 29: Central University of Kashmir (CUKashmir) inaugurated its Community Radio Station, Radio CUKashmir 90.8 FM, at the Tulmulla campus. The station was launched by Chancellor Lt. Gen (Retd) Syed Ata Hasnain, marking a new era of community-driven broadcasting.
Lt. Gen (Retd) Hasnain highlighted the radio’s potential to promote education and tackle social challenges, including drug abuse and disaster awareness. Vice-Chancellor Prof. A. Ravinder Nath emphasized using the platform to spread government initiatives and address climate change.
The first broadcast, conducted by Prof. Shahid Rasool, aimed to showcase local talent and discuss contemporary issues. Registrar Prof. M Afzal Zargar noted the station’s role in bridging academia and community. The event concluded with a vote of thanks from HoD, DCJ, Dr. Arif Nazir.
