Union Home Minister Amit Shah visited the Police Control Room (PCR) in Srinagar today to pay tribute to the victims of the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam. Following the ceremony, he proceeded to Government Medical College (GMC) Anantnag to meet and interact with those injured in the devastating strike.
On April 22, 2025, militants affiliated with The Resistance Front (TRF), an offshoot of Lashkar-e-Taiba, opened fire on a group of tourists in the Baisaran Valley near Pahalgam, resulting in at least 28 fatalities and over 20 injuries, marking it as one of the deadliest in the region in recent years.
In response to the attack, Home Minister Amit Shah has pledged strict action against the perpetrators. He is scheduled to hold a high-level security review meeting in Jammu and Kashmir to assess the situation and discuss measures to prevent such incidents in the future.
The attack has drawn widespread condemnation from political leaders across the country, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who has vowed to bring the perpetrators to justice. The incident has also escalated tensions with Pakistan, which has historically supported Kashmiri separatists.
Home Minister Shah’s visit to GMC Anantnag underscores the government’s commitment to providing support to the victims and their families during this challenging time.
