Islamabad: The Pakistan National Security Committee (NSC) convened under Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday labelled India’s missile, air and drone strikes across different parts of the country “as unprovoked acts of war and blatant violations of Pakistan’s sovereignty”, several media outlets reported.
The country’s NSC said India’s deliberate targeting of civilian areas, including mosques and homes, killed “innocent men, women, and children, a crime in clear breach of international law.”
“It warned that responsibility for regional escalation lies squarely with India.”
The meeting affirmed that Pakistan reserves the right to respond under Article 51 of the UN Charter and authorised the Armed Forces to take corresponding measures.
“The committee also praised the military for downing five Indian fighter jets and drones during the defence of Pakistani territory.”
