In a compassionate gesture towards families affected by cross-border violence, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Wednesday announced government jobs for the next of kin (NOKs) of those who lost their lives in Pakistani shelling in the Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir.

While addressing the shelling-affected families, LG Sinha expressed deep sorrow over the tragic loss of civilian lives and conveyed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families. “The loss of human lives is irreparable, but the government stands firmly with the families in this hour of grief,” he stated.

Sinha assured that the affected families would not be left alone and announced that one government job will be provided to each of the deceased victims’ families. He emphasized that this measure was in addition to the support extended by the Central government.

He further stated that both the Union and the Jammu and Kashmir governments are working in coordination to assess damages and offer comprehensive compensation packages. “A detailed damage assessment report is underway, and based on its findings, further steps will be taken to aid the affected families,” the LG added.

Highlighting ongoing security measures, Sinha mentioned that numerous community bunkers have already been constructed along the border to safeguard civilians during shelling incidents. He also revealed plans for constructing more individual bunkers to enhance the safety of residents living in vulnerable areas.

The announcement comes amid renewed concerns over civilian safety in border areas frequently subjected to ceasefire violations by Pakistan. The government’s latest steps aim to provide relief and long-term security to the affected border population.
