Says Decision Taken After Security Review in Both Regions; All Security Arrangements in Place; Amarnath Yatra People’s Yatra, Cooperation from Public Must for Smooth Pilgrimage

Pahalgam, June 14 (JKNS): Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha, on Saturday announced the reopening of several prominent tourist destinations across the Union Territory following a temporary closure in the aftermath of the Pahalgam terror attack.
Speaking to media persons in Pahalgam, LG Sinha, as per news agency JKNS, said that after thorough deliberations involving the Divisional Commissioners and Inspectors General of Police from both Jammu and Kashmir divisions, it was jointly decided to reopen a set of tourist spots to the public.
“In the Anantnag district, destinations such as Pahalgam, Betaab Valley, local parks in the Pahalgam market area, Verinag Garden, Kokernag Garden, and Achabal Garden have been reopened,” LG Sinha said.
“In Srinagar, Badamwari Park, Duck Park near Nigeen Lake, and Taqdeer Park near Dargah Hazratbal have also been made accessible to the public,” he added.
In Jammu division, tourist spots Sarthal, Baggar, Devi Pindi, Sehar Baba Waterfall, Sulha Park, Gul Danda, Jai Valley, Panchari have also been opened.
Referring to the public enthusiasm for the newly launched Vande Bharat train service, the Lieutenant Governor said, “Railway officials informed me that bookings are already full for the next ten days. People are showing overwhelming interest, which reflects growing confidence and normalcy.”
About the growing tourist footfall, LG Sinha said, “Tourists have started arriving in large numbers. The central government is also facilitating official meetings and visits by parliamentary delegations here, which will further enhance confidence and contribute to an increase in tourist numbers.”
Reassuring about the safety of visitors, LG Sinha said, “All security arrangements are in place. I appeal to tourists to visit in large numbers. Everyone involved is fully active on the ground, and the administration is committed to ensuring a peaceful experience.”
“This is the people’s Yatra,” LG Manoj Sinha said while referring to the upcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra. “All arrangements have been put in place, security forces are fully deployed, and I appeal to all pilgrims and tourists to visit in large numbers. Public cooperation is essential in ensuring the Yatra is peaceful and successful,” he added. (JKNS)
