The Department of Media Studies at Government Degree College (GDC) Baramulla successfully organized Media Festival 2025 on Tuesday, drawing enthusiastic participation from students, faculty, and invited guests. The event celebrated media literacy, storytelling, and student-led innovation across various formats.
The day began with the screening of student-made promotional videos, followed by the inaugural session where Dr. Danish Nabi, Head of the Department, welcomed the audience. The Principal of GDC Baramulla, in his address, highlighted the growing importance of media education in shaping responsible storytellers.
“Media education today is about shaping thought, sparking dialogue, and building responsible communicators,” the Principal said.
The festival featured screenings of student media projects, a photography competition and exhibition, an open theatre segment, and a short film competition judged by filmmaker Ronaq Zahoor.
“I was impressed by the originality and maturity of the student films,” said Zahoor.

In the valedictory session, Prof. Tariq Chalkoo praised the student efforts, calling the event a reflection of academic and creative growth.
Student winners expressed gratitude, calling the festival a platform that empowered their voices and stories.
