Srinagar: In a bid to prevent accidents and safeguard lives, the District Administration of Ganderbal has imposed a complete ban on swimming, bathing, and taking selfies in and around Nallah Sindh, particularly near the Arch Truss Bridge Wayil and adjoining areas including Mammer, Gagangeer, Hung, and Sonamarg.
Citing a high risk of accidents and fatalities due to strong currents, deep waters, and other hazards posed by the river, the administration in an order, a copy of which lies with The KashPost noted that such locations have seen several tragic incidents in the past, often triggered by unsafe recreational activities.
The ban comes into immediate effect and will remain in force until further orders.
Authorities have directed the Tehsildars/Executive Magistrates, as well as the SHOs of concerned jurisdictions, to strictly enforce the order in both letter and spirit.
The public has been urged to cooperate with the administration to ensure safety and prevent any loss of life. The order further warns that violators will face punitive action under relevant legal provisions.
