Srinagar: The District Magistrate Srinagar has granted permission for the 10th Muharram procession scheduled for July 6, 2025, following careful consideration and consultations with law enforcement authorities.

The approval, according to an order a copy of which lies with Alfaaz – The Words, comes in response to an application submitted by the All J&K Shia Association seeking permission to carry out the religious procession. However, the authorities have strictly denied the proposed alternate route from Bota Kadal to Zadibal via Mill Stop-Firdous Cinema, following the refusal of consent from the Senior Superintendent of Police, Srinagar, who raised security concerns.

Instead, permission has been officially granted for the procession to follow a specified route from Bota Kadal to Imambara Zadibal, passing through Alipora Chowk, Syed Afzal Lane, Sharibhat, Alamgari Bazar, Gassiyar Chowk, and finally reaching Imambara Zadibal in Srinagar. The organizers have been directed to ensure that the procession is strictly confined to this approved route and is conducted in an orderly manner without any deviation.

The administration has laid down several conditions to maintain law and order, emphasizing that no anti-national or anti-administration speeches, slogans, or propaganda will be tolerated. Activities that could disrupt communal harmony, religious sentiments, or national unity are strictly prohibited. The order makes it clear that no acts or statements that could harm the sovereignty, security, or peace of the state will be allowed.

Authorities have also banned the hoisting of provocative flags, display of slogans, pictures of terrorists, or logos of banned organizations, both domestic and international. Organizers must ensure that no harm or damage comes to public or private property during the event. Full cooperation with police and other security agencies is mandatory to ensure the smooth conduct of the procession.

To avoid traffic disruption, the procession must not obstruct emergency services, and organizers are required to submit the number of participants and volunteers to the SP City Hazratbal well in advance. The use of drones during the procession is strictly forbidden, and no public address systems, loudspeakers, or stages causing inconvenience to the public will be permitted.

The District Magistrate’s office has underscored the importance of upholding public order, religious harmony, and civic responsibility while allowing the observance of this significant religious occasion.
