Annual Urs of Sufi Saint Celebrated with Fervour in Ganderbal

The annual Urs of revered Sufi Saint Syed Peer Akbar Shah Khaleefa-e-Naqashbandi (RA) was observed with great religious fervour in Ganderbal, Kashmir. The serene surroundings of Waliwar Lar resonated with prayers, hymns, and the fragrant aroma of incense, as devotees of all ages congregated to pay homage and partake in the sacred rituals of the Urs.

Devotees gathered at the shrine to seek blessings and pay their respects to Hazrat Syed Peer Akbar Shah Khaleefa-e-Naqashbandi (RA). Among the attendees was Mohd Usman Gujjar from Reasi district, Jammu, who expressed his devotion, saying, “Attending the Urs fills my heart with tranquility and brings me closer to the teachings of Hazrat Syed Peer Akbar Shah Khaleefa-e-Naqashbandi (RA). His message of love, peace, and unity resonates with me, and I feel blessed to be part of this spiritual gathering.”

The event featured special congregational prayers at Darga Aliyaa, where devotees fervently prayed for the well-being and prosperity of the Muslim Ummah, with particular emphasis on the people of Jammu and Kashmir. The atmosphere was imbued with faith and devotion as individuals sought spiritual enlightenment and divine blessings.

During the Urs, devotees also had the opportunity to witness the Tabarkat (sacred relics) associated with Hazrat Syed Peer Akbar Shah Khaleefa-e-Naqashbandi (RA). It is believed that these relics hold spiritual blessings and serve as sources of inspiration and healing for the faithful.

Sajada Nasaden Khaleefa Silsilla, Syed Peer Afsar Shah, Syed Peer Skindar Shah, and Per Aksar Shah highlighted the significance of the Urs and emphasized the teachings of Hazrat Syed Peer Akbar Shah Khaleefa-e-Naqashbandi (RA) in fostering societal virtues. They stated, “The annual Urs is a time for introspection and renewing our commitment to live by the teachings of our revered saint. It is an occasion to promote unity, love, and harmony within our communities.”

Mufti Nazir Ahmad Qadari underscored that the Urs serves as a reminder of the timeless values advocated by Hazrat Syed Peer Akbar Shah Khaleefa-e-Naqashbandi (RA)—values of peace, compassion, and social harmony. The event unites people from diverse backgrounds, transcending caste, creed, and gender, as they come together in devotion and seek spiritual guidance.

The celebration of the Urs in Ganderbal reflects the enduring spiritual legacy of Hazrat Syed Peer Akbar Shah Khaleefa-e-Naqashbandi (RA) and reinforces the messages of love, unity, and peaceful coexistence in society.
