Goigam Baramullah, J&K — Asiya Farooq, currently serving as an Assitant Public Prosecutor (APP) in Beerwah, stands as a beacon of dedication, academic excellence, and community service. Her inspiring journey from a modest town in Baramullah district to a respected position in the legal system reflects the power of determination, education, and hard work.

Born and raised in Goigam Baramullah, Asiya began her educational journey at Green View Public High School, where she studied up to 8th standard. Her academic potential soon became evident, leading her to complete her secondary and higher secondary education at Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Magam, where she secured distinctions in both Class 10 and 12, specializing in the Arts stream.

With a clear focus on legal studies, she pursued her Bachelor of Arts from Women’s College Nawakadal, Srinagar, followed by an LLB from the University of Kashmir. Her relentless pursuit of academic excellence culminated in an LLM from the Central University of Haryana, where she had been topper of her batch.

Asiya’s talents extend well beyond academics. In 2007, she made headlines by securing the first position in the inaugural State Ball Badminton Championship, organized by the Jammu and Kashmir Amateur Ball Badminton Association. Her early interest in sports was also evident through her participation in Taekwondo championships under the Zonal Taekwondo Association Beerwah, Budgam in 2003 and 2005.

She has also been deeply involved in the scouting movement, representing Jammu and Kashmir in the Tribal Grameen Scout/Guide Meet held in 2011 at Priyadarshini Indira Stadium, T.P. Nagar, Korba, Chhattisgarh. That same year, her contributions were recognized with the Rajya Puraskar, conferred by Governor N.N. Vohra.

Her skills in oratory and literature were highlighted when she secured first position in a symposium on Allama Iqbal, organized by the Cultural Education Wing of the Government of Jammu and Kashmir.

In recognition of her meritorious service and dedication, she was also honored with the DGP’s Special Commendation Award by Director General of Police Kuldeep Khoda—an acknowledgment of her growing impact within the legal and civic community.

Now, as a Assitant Public Prosecutor, Asiya Farooq continues to serve the public with unwavering commitment and integrity. Her journey stands as an inspiring testament for the youth of Jammu and Kashmir—especially young women—who dare to dream beyond limitations.
