Naranag Tourism Reopens After Suspension Following Pahalgam Terror Attack

In a significant development for the region, the renowned tourist destination Naranag has officially reopened after a prolonged suspension following the Pahalgam terror attack. This marks a major turning point for the residents of Kangan and surrounding areas, many of whom have been facing severe economic hardships due to the halt in tourism activities.

The reopening comes after the personal intervention of MLA Kangan, Mian Mehar Ali, who communicated this positive update just a day ago. His timely action and deep understanding of ground realities have been widely appreciated by the local community. His leadership, marked by compassion and public service, has brought renewed hope to hundreds of families who depend on Naranag tourism for their livelihood.

Words may fall short in expressing the gratitude of the people, but the heartfelt prayers and well wishes for Mian Mehar Ali’s continued leadership speak volumes. His commitment to the welfare of the people reflects the values of true governance.

It is important to note that while several tourist destinations had reopened shortly after the Pahalgam incident, Naranag remained closed—deepening the distress of the local population. The coordinated efforts of MLA Mehar Ali, DDC member Tasmeena Adil Kapra, SSP Ganderbal, and DC Ganderbal have now resulted in the safe and full reopening of Naranag for tourism.

Naranag is widely regarded as the backbone of Kangan’s economy, with hundreds of families directly or indirectly dependent on tourism-related activities such as hospitality, guiding, pony rides, and handicrafts. The revival of tourism here not only brings relief to local livelihoods but also reinforces faith in responsive administration.

The people of Naranag and Kangan express their sincere thanks to all officials and leaders involved in making this reopening possible.
