Rotten Meat Crackdown: Ganderbal Eatery Sealed, 200 Kg Stale Meat Destroyed

Srinagar: Authorities in Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district have intensified their campaign against unsafe and unhygienic mutton products, sealing a prominent restaurant and destroying nearly two quintals of spoiled meat during a late-night raid on Friday.

The operation, led by Food Safety Officer Sheikh Abbas, covered Safapora, Badampora, and Beehama Chowk. At Raj Palace restaurant in Beehama, officials uncovered freezers packed with stale Rista, Goshtaba, Kebabs, fried chicken, and buckets of minced mutton, all unfit for consumption.

In a bid to evade seizure, staff members allegedly tried to throw bags of Rista and Kabab into an adjacent courtyard. “The attempt was foiled on the spot, and the entire stock of contaminated meat was confiscated and destroyed immediately,” officials confirmed.

The establishment was sealed and its owner booked under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006. Officials said similar enforcement drives in recent days at Safapora and Badampora have also led to action against food outlets using unhygienic ingredients.
