After years of delay, the long-awaited macadamization work on the Sopore Bypass Bridge has finally begun, bringing relief to thousands of commuters who use the route daily.
The bridge, which had remained in poor condition for months, frequently caused traffic congestion, vehicle damage, and accidents. The ongoing work is expected to provide a smooth road surface, ensure safer travel, and enhance overall connectivity in Sopore and adjoining areas.
Speaking on the occasion, the Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Sopore said that the administration had prioritized the project in light of the hardships faced by the general public. “We are committed to completing the work within the stipulated timeframe. The quality of macadamization will be strictly monitored to ensure durability,” the ADC stated.
Meanwhile, the MLA Sopore welcomed the commencement of the project, calling it a major relief for the people. “This was a long-pending public demand. I had personally taken up the issue with higher authorities, and today we see the work finally taking shape. Once completed, this project will bring lasting benefits to the town,” he said.
Local residents expressed gratitude to the administration and their elected representative, noting that the macadamization would reduce accidents and ease traffic flow.
Authorities have assured that the work will be completed in a time-bound manner, putting an end to the long-standing woes of Sopore commuters.
