Kulgam Police Attaches Property Worth ₹61 Lakh Belonging to Detained Drug Peddler

Kulgam : In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, Kulgam Police on Tuesday attached property worth around ₹61 lakh belonging to a detained drug peddler under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985.
The property, owned by Ghulam Rasool Dar, son of Late Abdul Rehman Dar, a resident of Vidoe Mishipora, Police Station Qaimoh, was attached under Section 68-F of the NDPS Act. The accused is involved in FIR No. 62/2021 registered under Sections 8/15-29 NDPS Act, in which 520 kilograms of poppy straw were recovered.
Dar is already detained under the Prevention of Illicit Trafficking in NDPS Act (PIT-NDPS) and is currently lodged at Central Jail Kot Bhalwal, Jammu.
According to police, the attached property was identified as illegally acquired from the proceeds of narcotics trafficking. The attachment order was executed by a police team in the presence of local residents and an executive magistrate, following a detailed investigation carried out by Police Station Qaimoh.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kulgam, Shri Anayat Ali Choudhary (IPS), said the action is part of an intensified campaign against drug networks in the district.
“Kulgam Police is fully committed to eradicating the menace of drugs from society. Strict action will continue against all individuals involved in narcotics trade, including the attachment of illegally acquired properties, to break the drug supply chain and safeguard our youth,” SSP Choudhary stated.
Local residents have lauded the efforts of Kulgam Police for taking firm action against drug peddlers and protecting the community from the growing drug menace.
Police have urged the general public to cooperate and share information about drug-related activities, assuring that the identity of informants will be kept confidential.
