Students Distressed as JKBOSE Schedules Class 12 Practicals Before Theory Exams

Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) has announced that the External Practicals for Class 12 Annual Regular 2025 (October–November Session) will begin from October 25, 2025, and must conclude before the theory exams, which start on November 8, 2025, as per the already notified datesheet. The practical datesheet will be issued shortly, as stated in the official notification signed by JSEKD.
This sudden shift has caused concern and frustration among students across Kashmir. For the first time, practical examinations will be held before the theory papers, leaving many students anxious and unprepared.
While speaking to Valley Online News, several students said that this unexpected change has pushed them into stress and even depression. They said they had studied according to the previous pattern, where practicals followed the written exams. Students believe that with very limited time left, it will directly impact their overall performance.
They appealed to the Board to review this decision immediately and bring back the earlier schedule. They said the authorities must consider students’ mental well-being and academic stability. Decisions related to education should safeguard the future of the youth, not burden them.
Many urged the administration to take timely action so that their efforts throughout the year do not go in vain and their academic future remains protected. Students and parents together have requested the Board to act with sensitivity and ensure that education policies remain student-friendly and fair.
