Kulgam Police Observes ‘Police Commemoration Day’ to Honour the Supreme Sacrifice of Martyrs

Kulgam: In a solemn and heartfelt ceremony, District Police Kulgam observed Police Commemoration Day at District Police Lines (DPL) Kulgam to pay rich tributes to the valiant police and security personnel who made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty while upholding peace, protecting the lives of citizens, and preserving the integrity of the nation.
The event began with the Police Commemoration Parade, during which the roll of honour of all martyrs was read out, followed by observance of two minutes’ silence in their memory. Senior officers and family members of the martyrs participated in the ceremony to offer floral tributes at the Martyrs’ Monument, symbolizing deep gratitude and respect for their courage and sacrifice.
The ceremony was graced by Deputy Commissioner Kulgam, Shri Athar Aamir Khan (IAS); Senior Superintendent of Police Kulgam, Shri Inayat Ali Choudhary (IPS); Commandant 18 BN CRPF; Additional SP Kulgam; Additional SP NHW Qazigund; DySP Headquarters Kulgam; DySP DAR Kulgam; along with officers and officials of J&K Police, Army, CAPF, and families of the martyrs.
Speaking on the occasion, SSP Kulgam Shri Inayat Ali Choudhary (IPS) recalled the indomitable courage and selfless devotion of police personnel who laid down their lives in the service of the nation. He said:
“Today, we bow our heads in reverence to our brave martyrs who made the ultimate sacrifice for peace and security. Their valor, integrity, and dedication will forever inspire us to serve our people with the same commitment and resolve. The legacy of our martyrs reminds us that the uniform we wear is not just a symbol of authority, but of sacrifice, service, and honor.”
During the interaction with the Next of Kin (NOKs) of the martyrs, the Deputy Commissioner and SSP Kulgam listened to their concerns, assured them of full support from the District Administration and Police Department, and reaffirmed that every effort would be made to address their needs on priority. As a gesture of respect and affection, gifts were distributed among the families of martyrs by the dignitaries.
Addressing the media, Deputy Commissioner Kulgam Shri Athar Aamir Khan (IAS) said:
“The courage and commitment of our police and security personnel form the backbone of our nation’s internal security. Their sacrifices remind us of the cost of peace and the depth of duty. The administration stands shoulder to shoulder with the families of our martyrs and will continue to support them in every possible way.”
As part of the commemoration, Kulgam Police, in collaboration with the District Hospital Kulgam, organized a One-Day Blood Donation Camp at DPL Kulgam, wherein police officers, officials, and civilians voluntarily donated blood to help save lives in times of need.
Later, SSP Kulgam also inaugurated a 10-Day Sports Event under the Civic Action Programme (CAP) at DPL Kulgam in memory of the martyrs. The event aims to promote youth engagement, sportsmanship, and communal harmony while paying tribute to the spirit of sacrifice of the police personnel.
The day concluded with renewed resolve among all ranks of Kulgam Police to uphold peace, serve the people selflessly, and honor the legacy of the martyrs through commitment, professionalism, and compassion.
