The JK NC-47 Pahalgam MLA Mohammad Altaf Wani (Kaloo) Cricket Tournament 2025 was officially inaugurated today with the powerful and motivating theme, “Swing the Bat, Drive Away Drugs.” The tournament aims not just to promote sportsmanship but also to inspire the youth to stay away from drug abuse and channel their energy into healthy competition and community building.

With a remarkable participation of 64 teams, the event stands among the biggest community-level cricket initiatives in the region. To encourage equal opportunity and ensure proper sporting conditions, MLA Mohammad Altaf Wani distributed cricket kits to every participating team, including one team from J&K Police.

Speaking on the occasion, MLA Wani emphasized discipline, passion for sports, and unity, stating that the tournament is purely about youth development and carries no political agenda. He highlighted that teams are required to pay only a one-time registration fee to sustain interest and accessibility for all.

Announcing the prize structure, MLA Wani informed that the tournament winner will receive ₹50,000, while the runner-up will be awarded ₹25,000. Additionally, the Man of the Match (MOM) in every game will get ₹1,000, the Man of the Tournament (MOT) will receive ₹5,000, and both the Best Batsman and Best Bowler will also be awarded ₹5,000 each.

The tournament is expected to witness a spirited display of talent, teamwork, and community participation, strengthening the message of sports as a healthy alternative to addiction.
