Akshay Kumar Urges Cyber Safety Education in Schools After Daughter Faces Online Harassment

Mumbai: Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar has called for the introduction of a dedicated “Cyber Period” in Maharashtra schools after narrating a disturbing online incident involving his daughter.
Speaking at an event in Mumbai, Kumar revealed that his daughter, while playing a video game a few months ago, was asked by an unknown player to share nude pictures after she responded that she was female. The child immediately switched off the game and informed her mother.
“This is how things begin. This is also a part of cybercrime,” Kumar said, stressing that such threats are growing rapidly. “I would request the Chief Minister that in our Maharashtra state, every week in the seventh, eighth, ninth and tenth standards, there should be a period called cyber period where children should be explained about it. You all know that this crime is becoming bigger than street crime. It is very important to stop this crime.”
Experts say online predators often target children through video games, chat rooms and social media. Kumar’s statement has sparked renewed debate on the need for structured cyber awareness lessons in schools to protect minors from such threats.
