Tariq Hameed Karra Backs PoJK, Supports Palestine Peace Deal, Flags Key Issues Ahead of Assembly Session

Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) Chief Tariq Hameed Karra on Saturday spoke on multiple political and international issues, including the situation in Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK), the Gaza peace deal, the upcoming Assembly session, and Rajya Sabha polls.
On PoJK, Karra said the ongoing situation is being handled in an “undemocratic way” and expressed solidarity with those facing atrocities. “Parliament has already passed a resolution that PoJK is part of India. The entire country stands with them, and Congress is against the manner in which things are being handled,” he said.
Speaking on international matters, Karra reiterated Congress’s support for Palestine. “Congress has always been a consistent champion of the Palestinian cause. We continue to advocate for justice, peace, and the rights of the Palestinian people globally,” he added.
On local political developments, he said the upcoming Assembly session will focus on key issues, including statehood, despite the session being brief. On speculation regarding Rajya Sabha nominations, he said, “Everything is speculation so far; no decisions have been finalized.”
Addressing debates around Sonam Wangchuk, Karra criticized BJP’s shifting stance. “Before, Wangchuk was hailed as patriotic, and even during the abrogation of Articles 370 and 35A, he supported national initiatives. His contributions in education, environment, and technology are notable. Labeling him anti-national now reflects BJP’s ‘my way or highway’ mindset,” he said.
