Mohammad Ashar Bhat, a resident of Dangerpora, Tailbal, Hazratbal, Srinagar, Kashmir, is a young student leader, political debater, and law aspirant who has consistently worked for the welfare of students and society. Through his involvement in student leadership, social awareness initiatives, and legal education, he has established himself as a disciplined, responsible, and nationally committed youth.
Ashar completed his early schooling from Gestalt Educational Institute, Shalimar, Srinagar, where his interest in debates, public affairs, and national issues began at an early stage. During his school years, he actively participated in debates and discussions related to politics, governance, and social issues. These early experiences shaped his confidence, clarity of thought, and ability to engage in meaningful dialogue. His inclination towards politics developed naturally from awareness and understanding rather than personal ambition.
Currently pursuing BA LL.B, Mohammad Ashar Bhat chose the field of law with a clear objective to serve the nation through legal and constitutional means and to represent people in their pursuit of justice. He believes that law is the strongest instrument to protect rights, maintain order, and strengthen democracy. His areas of academic interest include Criminal Law, Constitutional Law, and Human Rights, reflecting his focus on justice, civil liberties, and public welfare.
Ashar has served as the General Secretary of the Central University of Kashmir Students’ Union, where he played a key role in representing student concerns and advocating for their welfare. During his tenure, he worked on issues related to academics, administration, and student rights, maintaining constant communication between students and university authorities. His approach as a student leader remained constructive, lawful, and dialogue-oriented, earning him respect among students and faculty alike.
Beyond university politics, Mohammad Ashar Bhat has been actively involved in drug abuse awareness and eradication efforts. He has organized and participated in seminars and awareness programs on drug abuse, focusing particularly on youth. Understanding the serious impact of substance abuse on society, he continues to work towards prevention, awareness, and rehabilitation, encouraging young people to choose education, discipline, and positive engagement.
He is also an active member of the Human Rights Council of India, where he contributes to initiatives related to legal awareness, youth rights, and social justice. His work in this capacity focuses on lawful advocacy, documentation of genuine public issues, and engagement with concerned authorities. He strongly believes that human rights work must operate within the framework of the Constitution and national laws.
Mohammad Ashar Bhat is widely known for his nationalist outlook, which is reflected in his respect for democratic institutions, constitutional values, and unity. He consistently encourages students and youth to remain focused on education, awareness, and constructive participation in society. For him, nationalism is demonstrated through service, discipline, and responsibility towards the nation and its people.
