Residents of Sheikhgund area in Anantnag district on Tuesday expressed gratitude to Deputy Commissioner Anantnag, Syeed Fakhrudin Hamid (IAS), for sanctioning a road for their mohalla, a long-pending demand that had remained unfulfilled for nearly five decades.

Following the approval, a survey team headed by the Tehsildar visited the village to assess the site and initiate further formalities. The visit brought a sense of relief and optimism among locals, who have faced difficulties due to the absence of proper road connectivity for years.

Villagers said the lack of a road had caused daily hardships, affecting access to essential services, especially for students, elderly residents, and patients. They termed the sanctioning of the road as a historic step for the area and thanked the district administration for addressing their long-standing issue.

The residents expressed hope that the work would begin soon and be completed in a timely manner, marking a significant improvement in infrastructure and quality of life in the mohalla.
