Police Register Case Against Company Owner for Alleged Overcharging in Sonamarg

SRINAGAR: The Ganderbal Police have registered a case against the owner of M/s Sheer-i-Kashmir Construction Pvt. Ltd. for allegedly overcharging tourist vehicles in the name of sanitation fee at the SDA Toll Post, Shudkadi, Sonamarg
According to police, FIR No. 02/2026 has been registered at Police Station Sonamarg under Section 318(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Further investigation has been initiated to ascertain the full extent of the alleged illegal collection.
Police said the action was taken following complaints regarding unauthorized extra charges being levied on tourist vehicles passing through the toll post. Authorities are examining records and statements to determine the scale of the alleged overcharging.
Reiterating its commitment to protecting the rights of tourists and the general public, Ganderbal Police warned that any individual or agency found indulging in illegal or unauthorized fee collection would be dealt with strictly in accordance with the law.
